A WORD FROM JON

No confusing forms or share jargon

When you refer an estate matter to us, here's what disappears from your plate.

We handle every piece of registry paperwork in full. Your team or family never has to decode a Computershare form or work out what all the complex share jargon means (and there's a lot).

1

No registry calls

Share registries are notoriously hard to navigate. We take every call and every follow up off your hands.

2

Remote and fast

Everything we do is remote. No in person requirements, no delays. Most matters are opened and moving the same day.

3

Full audit before, during, and six weeks after
We run a complete share and dividend audit at three stages. Nothing gets missed.
Optional Blind Share Search

Our proprietary search has uncovered over $6.5M in shares and dividends estates didn't know existed. Available on request for any matter.
A qualified counsellor on every call

Jon is a qualified Lifeline crisis counsellor. Grieving families are met with genuine care, not just process.

What solicitors and families say about working with us.

 Common questions from solicitors

What areas do you cover?

What areas do you cover?

We work with estate law firms, executors, and beneficiaries Australia wide. For Australian listed (ASX) shares, we can act for clients located anywhere in the world. Everything is handled remotely, so location is never a barrier.

What do you need from us to get started?

What do you need from us to get started?

A copy of the Grant of Probate or Letters of Administration, the death certificate, and any holding statements or registry correspondence you already have. For transfers, we'll also need certified ID for both the executor and the beneficiary. If something is missing, we'll work out how to get it.

How quickly can you turn a matter around?

How quickly can you turn a matter around?

Most matters are opened the same day we receive instructions. Shares held directly on an SRN can often be sold or transferred the same day. Shares held on a HIN need to be released from the deceased's external broker first, which typically adds a couple of weeks. Either way, we move every file as fast as the registries and brokers allow, and we chase relentlessly.

What happens if shares cannot be located?

What happens if shares cannot be located?

There are two options. If you already know which company the shares are held in, we can run a quick SRN search to confirm the holding and current value. If you suspect there are shares but don't know where, our Blind Share Search covers every Australian share registry, all unpaid dividends, and unclaimed monies. We've uncovered over $6.5M in forgotten assets to date.

How are proceeds paid?

How are proceeds paid?

Sale proceeds are paid directly into the estate's bank account, the solicitor's trust account, or a bank account in the deceased's name if it's still open. We provide a full settlement summary with every transaction.

Do you handle the registry communication entirely?

Do you handle the registry communication entirely?

Yes. From the first form to the final transfer, we are the point of contact with every share registry, including Computershare, MUFG, Boardroom, and Automic. Your team and the family never need to call a share registry again.

Do you charge the estate or the law firm?

Do you charge the estate or the law firm?

For sales, our fees are deducted from the proceeds before settlement, so there's no separate invoice to manage. For everything else (transfers, unpaid dividend recovery, CGT cost base reconstructions, etc), we can invoice either the estate or the law firm directly, whichever you prefer.

How do I confirm JM Investments is legitimate, are you licensed?

Do you charge the estate or the law firm?

Yes. JM Investments & Advisory holds an Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL) through our principal, BR Securities Pty Ltd (AFSL #456663), and we operate as their Corporate Authorised Representative (CAR #001295954). You can verify our current authorisation on the ASIC Professional Registers (https://service.asic.gov.au/search/) by searching "Jonathon Martin Moses".

Note: if you search the MoneySmart Financial Advisers Register, our listing shows as Ceased. That register is for personal advice authorisations only, which Jon held in previous roles. JM Investments now provides general advice and stockbroking services, which are current and registered on the ASIC Professional Registers above.

What if the estate has unusual or complex holdings?

Do you charge the estate or the law firm?

Complex holdings are our specialty, it's how we built our reputation in the space. Common examples include:

• Missing shares
• Missing addresses
• Missing people
• Pre 2004 powers of attorney
• Lost SRNs

If you name it, we've dealt with it. If it involves Australian listed shares, we can find a path through.

*We don't currently handle international holdings directly, but we can refer these to our trusted specialists.
